It was a logical decision for Volkswagen, a German automaker, to enter the highly competitive American pickup truck market for quite some time. Despite the brand’s perceived lack of experience in producing pickup trucks, they have a few popular models to boast of, one of which is the Amarok, a favorite in Europe. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Volkswagen decided to release the Amarok in the USA by the end of 2023.
To make the most of their entrance into the pick-up truck field, Volkswagen has decided to collaborate with Ford and use the same platform as their successful Ford Ranger model. This move will surely guarantee that the Amarok will have a solid and reliable foundation.
Furthermore, the Amarok is rumored to have multiple powertrain options available, ranging from a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine to a gasoline V6 with a displacement of 3.0 liters. Finally, there is also speculation that Volkswagen will offer a hybrid powertrain option for the Amarok, providing consumers with another possibility for a sustainable and eco-friendly vehicle.
