Trucks like the Honda Ridgeline have gained popularity in the last few years. We can see that by looking at sales numbers from Ridgeline’s competitors and from Ridgeline’s own sales figures. For 2024, Honda is making a few minor changes to the look of the truck. And a few minor upgrades to the exterior of the upcoming 2024 Ridgeline Type R. Also, there are rumors spreading around that Honda is preparing an offroad version of the Ridgeline called TrailSport. But we will see the official introduction to see if this is true or not.
As we already mentioned, the midsize pickup market is crowded with offers from Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota, but we will see what improvements the upcoming 2024 Honda Ridgeline will bring. Type R is a sporty trim package for the Ridgeline. It is well known that Honda gives this name to the most powerful and sporty trims of their models. Honda will not just put the most powerful engine they can fit in the Type R. They will also change the appearance of the truck and make it more aggressive and sportier. Also, the handling will be improved and will be stiffer, so it can handle corners with ease. The Interior will also be improved from the base version, and it will feature more sporty seats. With new premium interior colors and an exterior that will add to the sportier appearance of Vencile.
2024 Ridgeline Type R Specifications
The 2024 Ridgeline Type R will come with a V6, 3.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 360 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque. This powerful engine will be responsible for impressive acceleration from 0 to 60 in just 5.1 seconds. The truck will be all-wheel drive, with Honda’s well-known all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring. The transmission will be a 9-speed automatic gearbox with an option for manually changing gears on paddles under the steering wheel. Towing capacity for Ridgeline Type R will be around 7000 pounds, and payload capacity will be up to 1200 pounds. There are no official numbers for fuel economy, but we see this engine in other models, so we can guess that the numbers will be around 24 mpg on the highway and 18 mpg in the city. And with a full fuel tank, it can cover up to 420 miles.
2024 Ridgeline Hybrid
The Ridgeline Hybrid is a long-awaited mid-sized pickup truck for Honda. It should come in the middle of 2024, with a starting price of around $55,000. For the powertrain, Honda has multiple options. But we are nearly certain that Honda will decide to pick a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine with a small electric motor. There are also rumors that Honda will offer a more powerful variant of the Hybrid in a PHEV combination. The base powertrain should produce around 300 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. With all-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic gearbox, it should offer a good driving dynamic with an impressive range. There are no official statements for towing and payload capacity, but we can assume that the Hybrid variant will have nearly the same numbers as the gasoline Ridgeline.
For the exterior and interior, we expect to see minor changes in the interior. For the exterior, we expect to see new futuristic headlights and a few tweaks on the front and rear bumpers. The main focus of the exterior redesign will be to reduce vehicle air resistance. Also, the truck will get a new set of unique 21-inch rims. Safety features will be the same as in the standard model, with additional features that are connected to the Hybrid variant of trucks, like regenerative braking.
2024 Ridgeline Type R Interior and Exterior
The Type R variant will not just get a powertrain upgrade. Also, the interior and exterior of the truck will get a more aggressive look, so we can see a difference between the normal Ridgeline and Type R trim. Upgrades will include a more aggressive grille and a more aerodynamic front bumper. Also, the truck will get lowered with a stiffer suspension. Some other exterior differences will include a Type R logo on the side of the truck and unique color choices.
For the interior of the 2024 Ridgeline Type R, Honda is also making a few changes. First of all, the interior color scheme will be a mix of red and black. Honda will add new seats in the interior with a sporty look and more lumbar support for a more aggressive and sportier ride. Also, the graphic of the instrument cluster will be totally redesigned with new software, with the main focus being to make sportier drivers satisfied.
