The fresh new 2023 Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck has been spied for the first time two days ago, heavily camouflaged. This compact midsize truck, if you didn’t know, is also sold under many different names, the L200 / Triton / Strada / Ram 1200 / Fiat Fullback. Moreover, it was unveiled for the first time in late 2014 and is very popular since then. In 2018, this truck got the last mid-cycle facelift, featuring attractive design.
Being a test mule, the prototype is hiding much of its design wrapped with camo. However, as we see, the forthcoming truck carries the same current Ute’s body. From information that is available, the new model will come with a slightly longer wheelbase, which could translate into a new platform, just like we saw on the Nissan Navara.

The facelift on the recently spied 2023 Mitsubishi L200 is visible despite its camouflaged body. As we said, the upcoming truck looks more attractive, and there’s not much to say in terms of design. It carries the stylish Ute’s body, and it seems that it had a slightly longer wheelbase compared to the outgoing model.
So, the new platform is likely. According to some reports, the Navara and L200 could share the same underpinnings and many cues together. Overall, on the recently spied Mitsubishi L200 we noticed that it wears identical grille and headlights as the mentioned truck.
Cabin Rumors
There is not much information about the interior of the next generation 2023 Mitsubishi L200. We believe that the new truck will share many elements with the Nissan Navara due to Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. Anyway, expect a very comfortable cabin filled with the same equipment that we saw on the Navara model.
That should probably include an 8-inch touchscreen as standard, cloth seats, and niceties such as heated front seats. However, the top-end model will offer a more premium cabin with a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, and a much larger infotainment display.
2023 Mitsubishi L200 Engine Specs
As far as we know, the new 2023 Mitsubishi L200 in Europe will be powered by a 2.3-liter turbodiesel engine. This potent four-cylinder engine offers 295 pounds of torque. However, the same truck in Asia will come with a much bigger engine. According to a trusted source, we can count on a 2.4-liter diesel engine that should produce around 180 horsepower and a torque of 320 lb.-ft.
Both models will be available with standard 2WD or an optional 4WD. With a more powerful engine, this truck can tow a maximum of up to 7,500 pounds, which is pretty good. Based on reports, the next generation Mitsubishi L200 could also come as a PHEV, with a similar system we found in the Outlander PHEV.
2023 Mitsubishi L200 Release Date, Price
At this moment, Mitsubishi didn’t reveal any information regarding the release date and price of the new L200. The starting price is expected to be around $31,000 for the model with basic equipment. However, if a hybrid model happens, don’t expect price to be lower than $40,000.
Considering all the previous released, the new truck could go on sale next year, probably in the first quarter. The rivals are stiff, and we can expect a tough battle between L200 and models like the Ford Ranger and the Toyota Tacoma.
