2024 Mitsubishi L200 Follows in the Footsteps of the Outlander SUV

2024 Mitsubishi L200

The new 2024 Mitsubishi L200 aka Triton pickup truck has been spotted testing in Europe, and we can expect it to arrive in the fall of 2023. As part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, the prototype follows in the footsteps of the popular Outlander. Basically, it features the same massive grille, and eye-catchy daytime running lights with integrated turn signals. We’ve also noticed, a new pair of headlights with sizable pieces of chrome trim.

Unfortunately, little is known about the engine of the upcoming truck at this point, but it’s expected to have a diesel engine, and potentially a plug-in hybrid powertrain option as well.

2024 Mitsubishi L200 Facelift

Considering that camouflage hiding the 2024 Mitsubishi L200 new body, we noticed something interesting. It seems that the new ute will adopt Mitsubishi’s current front-end design language. It wears the latest massive grille, which is flanked by daytime running lights with integrated turn signals.

Overall, the design is much more attractive than before, and we like the new headlights that are separated with ‘eyebrows’ in chrome. The same styling we saw on the latest Eclipse Cross, Pajero Sport, and Outlander models.

More Modern Interior

As in the case with the exterior, camouflage hides cabin changes as well. From the information that we got, the 2024 Mitsubishi L200 will come with a completely new interior. Anyway, it will keep the same seating layout, which means that there should be enough room for up to five passengers. Nevertheless, the customers can also expect to see a new infotainment system replacing the aging one.

It should also offer standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an onboard wi-fi hotspot. The list of standard safety tech should be longer than before, and it includes active brake assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and parking sensors with active parking assist.

2024 Mitsubishi L200 Engine Rumors

Despite that the all rivals are going towards electric power, we expect the next L200 to be available with a range of gasoline and diesel engines. Otherwise, it all depends on the market. Many reports also indicate that a plug-in hybrid with a limited electric-only range is likely at some point as well. The closest outcome is the same system as in the Outlander PHEV model.

This model uses a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, plus two electric motors. The system is taking energy from a lithium-ion battery pack, and it delivers a total output of 221 horsepower. Thanks to that, there is the ability to run for up to 24 miles solely on battery power and to charge in 40 min with a DC fast-charging station.

It will also reportedly use the same PHEV system as the mentioned model. Anyway, we don’t have any official word about its price but expect it to be significantly more than before.
