The next generation 2024 Toyota Tacoma will be inspired by the recently redesigned Tundra. So, the new truck will receive the same treatment followed by a similar styling cues and equally mechanical components. However, unlike the full-size Tundra, the mid-size Toyota Tacoma outsells many models in its class, including the Chevy Colorado and Ford Ranger.
From the latest news, the forthcoming Tacoma will ride on a new body-on-frame platform, featuring coil-spring rear suspension. Likewise, we should expect it to get a powertrain upgrade as well. As far as we know, the latest Tacoma could use the same hybrid turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the Tundra.
Will the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Be Redesigned?
Like the Sequoia and 4Runner models, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma will ride on the same TNGA-F architecture, which is a body-on-frame platform. Overall, the design will come with some modifications, mainly on the front fascia.
The Tacoma TRD Pro is the most favorite option, and it will just like the Tundra TRD come with a similarly familiar grille, lighting elements, and distinctive fender bulges. The manufacturer will probably introduce more colors to separate the TRD Pro version from the rest of the models.
Cabin Rumors
At the moment, we don’t have any idea what the inside of the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma will look like. Many believe that like its exterior design that’s inspired by the Tundra model, the interior should also be. So, if that happens, the Toyota Tacoma will receive the same or identical chunky styling elements, better materials throughout, and plenty of modern features. As before, the Tacoma will continue to be available with an extended cab and a crew cab as well as a short and long-bed option.
On the technologies front, we expect the Tacoma to feature a larger infotainment setup. That likely means the current 8.0-inch touchscreen will be replaced by a much bigger 14.0-inch touchscreen, which is also available inside the new Tundra. Along with that, the Tacoma will include as standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
2024 Toyota Tacoma Engine Specs
We must agree with others that Tacoma deserves a new powertrain. The outgoing Tacoma offers two engine options including a four-cylinder base engine and an optional V-6 that’s less powerful. For 2024YM, we expect Toyota to package the new Tacoma with the same turbo four-cylinder that’s also under the Lexus NX350. This engine consists of a 2.4-liter producing 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. The engine on the Lexus NX350 comes with an eight-speed automatic, sending power to the front wheels.
As the new Toyota Tundra i-Force Max Hybrid, the next generation Tacoma might also be available with the same powertrain. Under the Tundra this engine delivers 437 hp/583 lb-ft with a twin-turbo direct-injected DOHC 24-valve V6, plus 48-hp/184-lb-ft electric motor.
2024 Toyota Tacoma Price, Release Date
Just like the outgoing model, the new 2024 Toyota Tundra will be available in six different trims. Likewise, we expect a slight price bump over the current version.
The current base SR version starts at $28,000, while SR5 at $30,000, TRD Sport around $35,000, TRD Off-Road $38,000, Limited at $41,000, while the most expensive TRD Pro costs $46,000. We think the 2024 Toyota Tacoma will enter a new generation sometime next year.
