At the end of 2023, Subaru is likely to reintroduce the previously discounted small utility pickup truck named Baja, with a new model for the 2024 year. Previously, Baja was made from 2003 to 2006, but it was discounted due to low sales. Baja was a reliable, all-wheel drive, a four-passenger small utility pickup truck with great offroad capabilities, good towing capacity, and good MPG. 2024 Subaru Baja should be based on a modified Subaru Ascent platform with the same engine lineup.
2024 Subaru Baja Specification
The 2024 Subaru Baja is expected to come equipped with the well-known Subaru engine. Previously used in the Subaru Ascent. It will be an improved 2.4-liter inline four-boxer motor with 270 horsepower and 300 feet of torque. The transmission will be an automatic 8-speed gearbox. The upcoming Baja should be able to tow up to 5000 pounds and have one of the best fuel economies in its class. It is estimated to be 19mpg in the city and 23mpg on the highway.
The pickup will come with Subaru’s well-known Symmetrical all-wheel drive system as standard. Subaru may offer a Baja with a manual transmission and a 3.6-liter engine, but we don’t have any precise information at this time.
2024 Subaru Baja Exterior and Interior
It is expected that the second generation of the Baja will be very different from the first generation, which was introduced 20 years ago. The biggest problem of Old Baja was the dated and rough interior that was more looking like a working truck than a relatively high-priced truck in its class. Subaru will change that with the upcoming Baja and the interior and exterior of the truck will get a full overhaul. From the outside truck will get a modern look with a totally new headlight and taillights design. There is a massive bed behind the truck that can be customized, as well as a cover of utility space.
Inside the truck will get more comfortable and luxurious for longer rides and some of the main features will be a new 7-inch touchscreen and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. Part of the more luxurious interior will be totally new seats that will include power adjustments and heating with an option for cooling in more luxurious trim levels. As an additional feature, there is a sunroof, 360% camera, more luxurious leather seats with better lumbar support, and much more.
Connectivity will not be an issue for the upcoming 2024 Subaru Baja. You can expect it to be compatible with Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, and have Bluetooth as well. Also, we expect a wireless charging pad to be a part of the additional equipment.
Trim Levels
Previously Subaru offers a Baja in 3 trim levels: Sport, Turbo, and Turbo Limited.
The 2024 Model will be offered in 4 Trim Variants:
Base: This is entry-level trim and it will come with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, 16-inch wheels, 7-inch info entertainment system, and basic color options.
Premium: Premium trim will come with 3 zone climate control, heated front, and back row seats, bigger 18-inch wheels, and an upgraded sound system with a bigger 8-inch touchscreen on the center console.
Limited: standard equipment for this trim will be. 20-inch wheels, a power liftgate, and a panoramic sunroof will be a part of standard equipment same as new luxurious seats. Also, it will come with multiple options for bed covers and with premium color options for the body of the truck.
Wilderness: This will be max equipped most expensive trim level that is made mostly for an offroad drive. The Interior of this trim level will get a new sound system that is made by Harman Kardon, new ventilated front seats with better lumbar support for offroad drive, a heating steering wheel, and much more. Also, this trim will have a more aggressive look with bigger tires and a lot of black details all around the exterior of the truck.
2024 Subaru Baja Wilderness offroad capabilities
In addition to a 3-inch higher ride height, all-terrain tires, skid plates under the whole body, offroad suspension, an option for locking differentials, and a power winch as an additional feature, the Subaru Baja Wilderness is expected to offer several other features as well. The suspension will be additional stiffer with stronger springs and additional shock absorbers. There are also rumors for a new engine option that includes a 3.6-liter boxer engine but at this moment there is no official information from Subaru.
This model will be hugely customizable with a lot of additional options to meet the wishes of customers. Some of the customizations will include a roof light and a powered winch. Additionally, the truck can be configured with stronger rock sliders and stronger front rock guards.
Price, and Release Date
2024 Subaru Baja’s release date is expected to end of 2023 but it will probably be available in US dealerships at the start of 2024.
Depending on the additional features that the customer chooses, the base model should start at $29.000 and go up to $37.000 depending on trim level and additional equipment.
Competition for the 2024 Subaru Baja will be Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier and we hope that Subaru will find a way to its customers with their good pricing politics and well-known reliability.
