This vehicle is first time introduced in 2018 at the Angeles Auto Show by a startup company Rivian. The first production sample made a debut in 2021 at Chicago Auto Show and it hit dealerships in June of the same year. The 2024 Rivian R1T shakes the electric truck industry. And from the start, he introduces himself as a strong competitor to all-electric trucks on the market.
Automotive company Rivian was originally founded by CEO RJ Scaringe, and his goal was to build a modern truck that has good offroad and on-road performance with best-in-class range. For the upcoming model Rivian promise us just small upgrades that will keep this truck on top of the list of most performing all-electric trucks.
2024 Rivian R1T Specifications
The 2024 Rivian R1T will be based on an upgraded “Skateboard” platform so engines and batteries will be under the passenger compartment and that means the center of gravity will be relatively low for a truck. That promises good driving characteristics. The 2024 model of Rivian R1T should come in multiple battery/motor configurations.
Depending on trim levels it should come with 3 battery configuration options. For the start, the base version will be 105 kWh, the mid-tier will be 135 kWh, and the most expensive with the most capacity battery pack will be 180 kWh. Depending on engine configuration and style of drive smallest battery should provide up to 250 miles of range and the top-tier battery in economic drive should provide up to 420 miles of range. There will be two variants of powertrain available. Dual-motor options with 550hp and four-motor with 750hp and 850 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 time will be under 3 seconds for a most potent setup. Also, the towing capacity of a top-tier powertrain setup will be up to 11.000 pounds. The truck will come with all-wheel drive as standard with great offroad capability.
2024 Rivian R1T Trim Levels
The 2024 Rivian R1T should come in 3 trim levels:
Starting from base trim Explore: Starting price of this trim will be around $70.000. The Powertrain of this model will be a dual-motors setup paired with a 105 kWh battery with a range of up to 300 miles. Also as standard equipment, this trim level will come with daily led lights, a rear camera, and heated front leather seats, and as an option, you can pay extra for the panoramic roof.
The Middle of the pack trim is reserved for Adventure: Starting price will be around $76.000. In this trim, you can pay extra for a 135kWh battery pack and it also comes in a dual-motor variant.
Air suspension will be standard for this equipment level same as the bigger 14-inch touch-screen in the middle console.
Launch Edition: This will be the name of top tier trim and starting price for this model will be around $80.000 and go up to $95.000 depending on the additional equipment customer can pick. This trim will have luxurious leather seats with options for heating and cooling. Heated steering wheel and much more. The Standard for this trim will be a Quad-motor setup with a top-tier battery pack.
Similarly to the previous model, Rivian R1T has an array of customizable options for customers to choose from that best suit their needs.
2024 Rivian R1T Interior and Exterior
The 2024 Rivian R1T interior will get just minor changes. It will have the same minimalist dashboard with a 12-inch digital cluster but the touchscreen on the center console will get software and hardware upgrade. Now in standard equipment, you will get a 12.5-inch touchscreen that can go up to 16 inches depending on the equipment package. The truck will still keep the modern minimalist design with a few psychically knobs but it will have a lot of room for drivers and passengers. The cabin will stay luxurious and comfortable with a lot of options to connect your phones and other multimedia devices also it will include a charging pad as an additional option.
The exterior of the truck will get a small revision. Generally, there will be no changes to the silhouette of the vehicle. The truck will have the same futuristic design as the previous model but the headlight and taillight will get a small revision. Also, the front fascia of the truck will stay the same with a few minor changes. From Rivian, they promise a smoother and more comfortable ride thanks to the upgraded suspension. The ground clearance will stay at respectively 14.5 inches. The truck will stand standardly on 20-inch wheels but 21 and 22-inch wheel options will also be available. Rivian is also rumored to offer new premium colors at the end of 2023, but we need to wait until then to find out if that is true.
Price and Release Date
We expect Rivian R1T to start reaching the dealership in Q4 of 2023.
Starting price will go from $70.000 up to $95.000 depending on trim level and additional equipment.
Competition in the electric truck category is fierce and the new Rivian R1T will go versus F-150 Lighting, Hummer EV, Silverado EV, and RAM 1500 EV.
