The new 2024 GMC Sierra HD models are set to receive a major refresh next year. As far as we know, the manufacturer will introduce new front and rear end designs, a completely revised interior, along with potential powertrain updates.
It’s also worth noting that this truck was originally scheduled for the 2023 model year, but due to complications brought on by COVID-19 and a shortage of superconductor chips, the manufacturer delayed its production. However, we are expecting it to start this year, and the manufacturer will continue production at the GM Flint Assembly plant in Flint, Michigan, USA.
2024 GMC Sierra HD Redesign
Some of the spy shots are available, and the 2024 GMC Sierra HD is unfortunately heavily camouflaged. Still, we noticed that the forthcoming truck would come with new front and rear end designs.
First of all, the front fascia looks much wider, hosting the new grille and updated headlights. Also, the rear seems redesigned, wearing new taillights and bumper. Of course, all depends on the chosen trim, and you can expect the most features to be available on the most expensive Denali model.
More Comfort and Better Technology
Inside, the 2024 GMC Sierra HD models host a very comfortable cabin thanks to material quality. So far, every Sierra HD has had an 8.0-inch screen standard touchscreen infotainment system, which could be replaced with a much bigger one. Also, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, just as are the USB-c ports.
It also worth noting that we’re expecting a Bose audio system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a rear-seat entertainment system. Likewise, we heard that GMC would add more features on the most expensive Denali trim.
2024 GMC Sierra HD Engine Specs
Just like its predecessor, the 2024 GMC Sierra HD comes standard with a gas-powered 6.6-liter V8 engine. The engine generates 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. Also, it’s paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and rear or all-wheel drive. For 2024, there is a rumor that a 6.6-liter V8 engine could produce around 450 horses thanks to some mappings.
The optional Duramax diesel 6.6-liter V-8 will also be available. This engine so far produced 445 ponies and 910 lb-ft, and it sends power to the Allison 10-speed automatic. As for towing, the strongest Sierra 3500HD can carry 7442 pounds in its cargo bed and pull 35,500 pounds. The Sierra 2500HD, which is on the other hand only offered with a single-rear-wheel axle, can pull 3979 pounds of payload and 18,500 pounds of towing.
2024 GMC Sierra HD Price, Release Date
At the moment, we don’t know any pricing of the GMC Sierra HD. However, considering the upgrades that we know the price will surely be higher.
The current GMC Sierra HD starts at $41,995 for the Pro model, while SLE is $47k, SLT $56,895, AT4 around $65k, and the Denali is more than $71k. As we said, production of the new model will start this year, while sales are expected to begin in 2023.
