GMC company revealed the front end of the upcoming Sierra electric pickup truck yesterday, and we must admit that the forthcoming model looks awesome. As the Silverado EV, the upcoming 2023 GMC Sierra EV will likely be mechanically identical. As far as we can say, both models will ride on the same platform, and both will be built in the same plant in Michigan. So, the Sierra EV is set to join the existing GMC Hummer EV model soon.
The electric truck will reportedly use the latest GM’s Ultium battery packs that should provide up to 400 miles of range. Here’s everything we know so far about this amazing pickup.
2023 GMC Sierra EV First Look
The 2023 GMC Sierra EV truck will be a completely new truck that will roll on General Motors’s latest platform. If you didn’t know, the same underpinnings we saw on the recently showed GMC Hummer EV and Silverado EV models. So, we’re expecting the forthcoming Sierra EV to share many cues with mentioned models.
At this point we have only one teaser image, and the full-size pickup looks very shiny and attractive. In general, we are expecting it to be much more handsome than the Chevy Silverado EV, thanks to new blocked-off grille and a futuristic lighting setup.
Cabin Rumors
Inside, the 2023 GMC Sierra EV will be modern, and it will not be different too much from the range-topping Denali trim level at all. So, expect a very luxurious cabin, filled with many technologies. At this point, we’re not sure which trim levels GMC will offer, but we reckon that the lower models will offer better value than the original Sierra 1500.
As the luxury-oriented Denali model, the new Sierra EV will include the same supportive seats and probably the same infotainment system, or even larger. Considering all above, the Sierra EV will likely to be more attractive from the Chevy Silverado EV.
2023 GMC Sierra EV Specs, Range, Charging Time
Like the Hummer EV and Chevy Silverado EV, the new 2023 GMC Sierra EV will be closely related to both mentioned trucks. In general, we’re expecting all trucks to be mechanically identical. From what we know so far, the electric GMC Sierra will use GM’s Ultium battery packs and two-motor or even a three-motor setup. Thanks to that, we should expect it to deliver up to 400 miles of range with 200.0 kWh battery.
As you can see, the range of this truck is impressive. For comparison, the Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 comes with a similar setup that provides up to 350 miles between charges. However, with 800-volt DC fast charging and about 10 minutes of charge, we should expect this truck to provide at least 100 miles.
When Can We Expect the 2023 GMC Sierra EV?
The new 2023 GMC Sierra EV has just been teased, and it looks very shiny. Unfortunately, GMC has only revealed the front end of this truck, but they didn’t provide any further information.
As far as we managed to find out, the forthcoming truck will ride on the same platform as the siblings Chevrolet Silverado EV as well as the Hummer EV model. We’re expecting this truck to debut sometime in 2022 as 2023YM, starting at $60,000.
