The testing mule of the new 2023 Ford Ranger was spied two days ago, featuring many upgrades. This pickup truck is the most selling in the class, thanks to its off-road abilities and compact styling. Ford company’s is continuously attacking the truck segment on all fronts.
After introducing the new compact Maverick truck, the manufacturer also shows an electric F-150 and a redesigned Ranger Raptor. Speaking of the next-generation Ranger, the caught model is camouflaged, and it appears to have more muscular bodywork than the outgoing one. On top of that, it seems that the redesigned model is also slightly longer, which means only one, more roomy cabin.
2023 Ford Ranger Exterior Upgrades
The first spy shots of the upcoming 2023 Ford Ranger are available, and the new truck looks refreshed. First of all, the the whole body is camouflaged, but we managed to see more muscular bodywork. Also, it seems that the redesigned model is slightly longer than its predecessor. However, according to Blue Oval, the minor modifications on the following truck should help it to distance from the new Maverick. Interestingly, the next Ranger will probably ride on the upgraded version of the T6 platform.
The same platform is also present on the Bronco model. While these two models look similarly rugged, the Ranger comes with less extreme 255/65 R18 Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires. The rear suspension is present as well, and is similar to what the company used on F-150 Raptor prototypes. Overall, the design is much better, and the new Ranger has a prominent grille flanked by vertical headlights and LED daytime running lights.
First Look Inside
At this point, we have only one spy image of the 2023 Ford Ranger interior. As we can see, the dashboard is completely covered, and it hosts a large new infotainment screen, which dominates. Compared to the outgoing truck, the new one clearly has a much larger screen, measuring around ten inches.
The image also reveals a much more stylish steering wheel, which is dressed in leather with colored stitching. Overall, the design appears to be unique, and we can expect the same seating arrangements. The current model can fit five passengers comfortably, with decent legroom and headroom behind. Generally speaking, the interior is much more modern than the current Ranger’s cabin.
2023 Ford Ranger Powertrain Specs
The latest 2023 Ford Ranger is expected to ride on an upgraded T6 platform like the Bronco. So, we presume that both models could potentially share the same engine option. That means we should expect a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that produces around 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. Besides this engine, we also expect a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 unit that is capable of developing at least 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.
The Ford Ranger Raptor as the most powerful member, will use a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 that makes up to 400 hp (298 kW /406 PS) and 415 lb-ft (562 Nm) of torque.
Release Date, Price
The forthcoming 2023 Ford Ranger testing mule reveals some upgrades. First of all, the design is much more attractive, and we expect more changes on the final variant. Blue Oval has previously suggested the next-generation Ranger will debut early next year. However, they didn’t reveal any information about its price.
Actually, considering the number of upgrades and changes, we should definitively expect a slight increase. The current model costs around $26,000 for the base model, and it can go up to 50k for the Raptor model. Models like the Toyota Tacoma, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, and the redesigned Nissan Frontier are the main rivals of the new Ford Ranger.
