Blue Oval’s company recently unveiled its next flagship pickup truck, the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning. The new variant shares many elements with the regular F-150, especially outside. However, many upgrades are available, and Lighting replaced Ford F-150s gasoline V-6 powertrain with a pair of electric motors and excellent battery capacity.
Ford claims that this electric truck with the standard-range battery is able to travel up to 230 miles per charge, while extended-range can allow travel for around 300 miles. The fun fact is that when this truck reaches the market, it won’t be the only one that is using an electric setup. GMC’s Hummer EV SUT launch will happen next year, as well as the Rivian R1T.
2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Exterior
F-series are the best-selling trucks in America. However, the most exciting news is that Ford is going to release an all-electric 2023 F-150 Lightning. It’s the first-ever gas-free pickup truck that should offer more purposeful technology, providing a great driving experience. As mentioned, the Lightning model shares much of the regular F-150’s body styling. Compared to the standard truck, the most apparent tweak is the LED strip going across the hood and connecting the LED headlight units.
On top of that, the Lightning models also get their unique grille treatments. On top of that, the Pro model comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, while Platinum comes with 2-tone bright aluminum/black 22-inch alloys. As for the bed, the width between the rear wheelhouses is 50.6 inches, allowing great towing capacity. The front trunk measures about 14 cubic feet, and it can hold 400 pounds of payload.
First Look Inside
The cabin of the 2022 F-150 Lightning is much more modern than the regular one. This pickup offers the same seating layout as the regular one, with some extra elements. Basically, there is decent room for five passengers, and the cheapest Pro trim comes with vinyl upholstery and manually adjustable front seats.
Compared to the standard model, the new Lightning comes with a 12.0- inch touchscreen infotainment system and a voluminous front-trunk cargo bay. Ford’s latest Sync 4 software is available, and trims like Lariat and Platinum models come with an even larger 15.0-inch display. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, in-dash navigation, and a Wi-Fi hotspot are all standard.
2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Engine Specs
The forthcoming 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning is an all-electric truck powered with two electric motors and an all-wheel drive. This model should deliver 426 horsepower with the Standard-Range battery, while the Extended-Range battery rises horses to 563. Peak torque is impressive, with 775 lb-ft of torque. Overall, performance should satisfy even the hardcore customers.
Ford also claims a driving range of 230 miles per charge with a standard battery or 300 miles with extended. Buyers can change their F-150 Lightning using a home charger via 110- and 220-volt or some of the DC fast-charging stations. Ford says it can charge from 15 percent to 80 percent of battery capacity in only 44 minutes.
Price, Release Date
