Exciting news for all the Cheyenne lovers. It seems that the new 2022 Chevy Cheyenne is in the works, and it might make its comeback next year. In twelve years, General Motors filed a trademark application for the Cheyenne nameplate four times in the United States.
The best fun fact is that the last application is filed on April 16 this year, triggering many rumors about a comeback of this famous truck. If you didn’t know, GM began using the Cheyenne name for the first time in 1971, and it was last used for the SEMA performance truck concept in 2013. Since then, we heard plenty of stories, but unfortunately, the production model didn’t happen yet.
2022 Chevy Cheyenne Will Be Complete Deferent from the Concept Model
The most frequent question about the new 2022 Chevy Cheyenne is how it will look like? According to various reports, GM will make this truck more attractive than we can imagine. The reason is simple, to compete with a perfect rival, the forthcoming Ford Maverick.
However, many believe that the new truck will retain an almost identical design as the Silverado pickup. On the other hand, Cheyenne may potentially become a package option on the mentioned model. Anyway, we expect the new model to retain a compact design and to features some of the Silverado’s capabilities. That includes reduced suspension, improved brakes, and much more.
Cabin Expectations
On the inside, we expect the new 2022 Chevy Cheyenne to offer a spacious cabin like the Silverado. Considering that Silverado is one of Chevy`s most selling trucks, we presume that Cheyenne will borrow plenty of cues from it. Firstly, there will be enough room to fit a comfortable 5-passenger and many new niceties.
The Silverado features a touchscreen display of 8 inches in size, and we should expect the same on the Cheyenne. Lower trims will probably offer 4-way adjustable seats, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, and an excellent safety package. As optional, we expect heated seats and a steering wheel, a high-def rearview camera with hitch guidance, heated side mirrors, plus an integrated trailer brake controller.
2022 Chevy Cheyenne Engine Rumors
The 2022 Chevy Chayenne, if it happens, will most than likely use some of the existing engines. It will probably deploy one of the Silverado’s engines. Several powertrains are available, starting from a 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8, and a turbocharged 2.7-liter 4-cylinder. The most powerful is still a 6.2-liter V8, delivering 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft.
Besides, the manufacturer also offers a 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel that makes 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This unit is one of the most fuel-efficient. Like many other vehicles, the Silverado comes standard with a start/stop system that cuts engine power idle to save fuel. The fun fact is that this system can be disabled with the press of a button, which is not the case with other models. However, we are currently waiting for GM to provide more specific information, so, until then, we must be patient.
Release Date, Price
At this point, there is no exact debut date of the 2022 Chevy Cheyenne. Many believe that this model will arrive as a brand-new pickup, or Chevy might use it as a special package on the Silverado model. Anyway, if it happens, we should expect different styling than before.
Some of the renderings are available, and it looks almost identical to the Silverado model. However, some reports claim that this model could go on sale sometime next year. GM is still quiet about it, but we should expect more details in the coming months.
