2024 GMC Canyon Prototype Spied Testing

2024 GMC Canyon front

The forthcoming 2024 GMC Canyon is expected to arrive next summer, featuring numerous improvements over the previous variant. From what we know, the new truck will probably receive the same treatment as the recently introduced Chevrolet Colorado. The current Canyon shares its powertrains, platform, and many things with the mentioned model.

We also expect the new AT4X trim, which is similar to the Colorado ZR2. The Canyon AT4X will use the same Multimatic spool-valve dampers, locking front and rear differentials, suspension, and the same Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires. Still, the ZR2 model is significantly more off-road capably.

2024 GMC Canyon Design

The 2024 GMC Canyon should look more upscale and it will definitively depart from the current model’s chunky styling. Some spy photos are available and we’ve noticed that bumper clearance has improved, just as the truck’s headlights are looking slimmer than the ones on the current model.

Beyond that, the prototype has been heavily camouflaged, which doesn’t allow us to see more details. In general, we’re expecting that the new truck deviate similar treatment as the Chevy Colorado and the GMC Sierra 1500.

Cabin Features

We’re expecting the new 2024 GMC Canyon to come with a more comfortable interior, compared to the outgoing one. Overall, this truck will also have a more upscale and tech-forward design. It will come with far more advanced features.

The base model uses a seven-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, six audio speakers, and satellite radio. However, as optional, you can get an eight-inch touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a wireless charging pad, seven audio speakers, and two extra USB ports.

2024 GMC Canyon Engine Specs

GMC hasn’t yet released any details on what engine will power the new 2024 GMC Canyon, and if there will be some changes. The current Canyon is available with three available engines. The base variant uses a 2.5-liter inline-4 that makes 200 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque, while the more powerful V6 makes 308 horsepower.

Lastly, the most awesome is the Duramax 2.8-liter turbodiesel inline-4, which makes 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. It is worth noting that the base 4-cylinder only comes standard with a 2WD, while other ones on upper trim with 4WD. As for towing, the standard has a max towing capacity of up to 3,500 lbs, while the more robust V6 offers up to 7,000 lbs. The Duramax is the better option with a max tow rating of 7,700 lbs.

2024 GMC Canyon Release Date, Price

GMC will reportedly reveal the newest Canyon sometime next year, probably in the summertime. As we said, the new truck will receive a full redesign, so expected it to have a higher starting price than the current pickup. Pricing for the current Canyon starts at around $27,995 and it can go up to $50,145.

As a model before, the 2024 GMC Canyon will compete with rivals in the same class such as the Ford Ranger, Nissan Frontier, Toyota Tacoma, and Honda Ridgeline.
