2023 Rivian R1T Promises 400 Miles of Driving Range

2023 Rivian R1T

The futuristic 2023 Rivian R1T is an all-electric pickup truck that will go on sale later this year. This truck is made by a new American startup company called Rivian, which promises 400 miles of driving range and very quick acceleration. With 215.6 inches of length, the crew-cab- R1T sits between mid-size pickups such as the Ford Ranger and full-size truck the Ram 1500.

The R1T is the first electric pickup truck that thanks to electric motors should boast up to 800 horsepower and be able to accelerate from zero-to-60-mph in 3.0 seconds. However, it will not be alone in the market because we are soon expecting the release of the Ford F-150 Lightning and the GMC Hummer EV.

2023 Rivian R1T Design

The exterior design of the 2023 Rivian R1T is attractive thanks to a unique light signature on the front and rear. As we said, this truck measures 215.6 inches of length, and is only available with a crew-cab. Compared to other models in the segment, the R1T sits dimensionally between mid-size pickup such as the Ford Ranger and full-size truck the Ram 1500.

From a functionality standpoint, the highlight is definitively the Gear Tunnel that, according to Rivian can hold 400 pounds. As for the wheels and tires, this model offers three choices. You can get a 20-inch All-Terrain package for superior off-roading, a 21-inch set for the best electric range, and a 22-inch wheel and tire, which will definitively enhance on-road handling.

First Look Inside

The cabin of the forthcoming 2023 Rivian R1T is much more attractive than the Teslaโ€™s Cybertruck model. Actually, the interior of this model comes with large displays for both the gauge cluster and the infotainment system. However, perhaps the oddest thing is a large trunk under the front hood, also called frunk. According to Rivian, thereโ€™s also a big storage behind the cab where you can put all your staff. Overall, Rivian claims the R1T has 12 cubic feet of lockable storage.

Stepping into this truck, youโ€™ll first notice a large 16.0-inch infotainment display and a digital reconfigurable gauge display. The infotainment interface comes standard with navigation, and you can also control the climate on it. Oddly, this model is the first one that we heard it doesnโ€™t include Apple CarPlay or Android Autoโ€“features.

According to Rivian, the new R1T model will come standard with all-wheel drive thanks to an electric motor setup. Unlike the Tesla X model, this truck uses a different arrangement. Actually, each wheel of this model comes with its own electric motor. On top of that, Rivian claims the R1T is able to deliver a total of 800 horsepower, accelerating from zero-to-60-mph in just 3.0 seconds.

Rivian also says that R1T can tow more than 11,000 pounds with a payload capacity of 1760 pounds. As far as we know, the base model will be available with a 135-kWh battery pack, capable of delivering driving range of 300 miles. A larger 180-kWh pack will be optional, and weโ€™re expecting at least 400 miles per charge.
