The new 2023 RAM HD trucks will reportedly be launched later this year, featuring better styling and improved cabin. As you probably know, the lineup of heavy-duty trucks includes RAM 2500 and 3500 models. Both mentioned models are replicating semi-truck-like towing abilities, and they come with powerful machines under the hood.
As before, the HD models are available in diverse trim levels and body styles. Both are being high-tech, offering a plethora of popular infotainment features and useful assists. On top of that, there are multiple powertrains to choose, ranging from a 410-hp Hemi V-8 to a Cummins diesel with up to 1075 pound-feet of torque.
2023 RAM HD Design
The appearance of the 2023 Ram HD trucks is muscular yet attractive. As you probably know, these trucks are the most popular in the US. They are recognized thanks to a colossal grille and curves that make them look almost like a muscle car. We like traditionally boxy shapes with lots of straight lines and sharp edges. Size-wise, the Ram HD is in like with rivals from Ford and GM. However, its exterior can change quite a bit depending on the trim.
For example, the Limited model comes with own special grille, while the Limited Longhorn has unique 2-tone paint options, The more rugged Power Wagon offers a great off-road appearance package similar to the one that we saw on the 1500 Rebel.
Cabin Features
The cabin of 2023 RAM HD models is modern, and tech features can vary widely among trim levels. Also, there is a single cab, a spacious four-door Crew Cab, and the massive Mega Cab. Unlike the rivals from Ford, Chevy and GMC, the Ram has the best interior equipped with luxury-car-level detailing.
The highlight is a definitively multilevel center console that can accommodate a laptop with a 15.0-inch screen. Every Ram HD comes standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, but Ram also offers a giant 12.0-inch reconfigurable touchscreen optionally. Besides, it features navigation, a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
2023 RAM HD Engine Specs
Under the hood of the 2023 RAM HD models, there are multiple powertrains options. As standard, all HD models use a 6.4-liter V8 that produces 410-hp with 429 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with an excellent eight-speed automatic. It’s also worth mentioning that this engine and transmission are only offered in the Power Wagon.
However, as an option, you can get a 6.7-liter Cummins diesel inline-six on every other model. Two versions are available, and with the 2500 model, it will make 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. The more powerful 3500 produces an incredible 400-hp high-output version and 1075 pound-feet of torque. Unlike the base one, these engines send power from more modern 10-speed transmissions.
Towing Capacities
Thanks to a high-output Cummins engine and its 1075 pound-feet of torque, the new RAM 3500 is the king of towing, with up to 37,090 pounds and a maximum payload of 7680 pounds.
When equipped with the same engine, the 2500 Crew Cab offers a max payload of 2380 pounds and a towing of 19,010 pounds.
