Reportedly, the upcoming 2023 Ram 1500 TRX will be the last model that will use a Hellcat engine. This truck is based on the regular Ram 1500 but is much more off-road oriented. However, unlike the regular model, the forthcoming TRX also comes more aggressive, featuring roomy and sporty cabins as well. It has suspension that is engineered for hard-core Baja runs, providing a comfortable ride.
If case you didn’t know, the Ram 1500 TRX is the fastest and the most powerful off-road truck on the market. This pickup is powered by a potent engine that produces 702-horsepower. The engine was borrowed from the Hellcat line of Dodge high-performance cars, and it has been modified for heavy-duty high-speed racing. According to Ram, we can expect the second generation to appear next year, at the same time as the regular variant.
2023 Ram 1500 TRX Facelift
We expect the new 2023 Ram 1500 TRX to be more aggressive than before. Moreover, as before, it will be available in one body style, Crew Cab with a 5’7″ bed. Compared to the regular variant, the TRX is eight inches wider at the front and the rear. It also has a 6-inch wider track. We like every detail on this truck, especially LED clearance marker lights on the hood scoop and in the front fender flares.
The front end is unique with a stylish grille and headlights, resulting in a more aggressive design than the rugged Ram Rebel model. On top of that, the new TRX rides on 35-inch tires with 18-inch wheels, and it has four tow hooks.
Cabin Offers More Comfort
Inside, the 2023 Ram 1500 TRX sports a very luxury cabin that’s filled with many standard amenities. At this point, there is no available truck on the market that can match the comfort the Ram 1500 TRX provides. Despite the hard-core off-road nature, the Ram 1500 TRX cabin uses premium materials and plenty of techs. Like the previous generation, we expect the new one to come with the same Ram’s 12-inch Uconnect touchscreen, which has become the manufactureres trademark. Unlike the regular Ram, the TRX uses a floor-mounted transmission shifter instead of the dash-mounted dial. As far as we know, the flat-bottom steering wheel has paddle shifters that control the 8-speed automatic transmission.
Comfort is guaranteed thanks to very sporty and supportive seats. The TRX also has a stylish black interior with red accents along with the seats’ bolsters. However, you can change that by choosing the Graphite accents instead of red. With the TR interior, you will get cloth and vinyl seats and 60/40-split rear seats. If you jump right to the TR1 trim, you can count on heated leather seats and a heated steering wheel. The TR2 is the most equipped model, and it includes cooled seats, reclining rear seats, and other options packages.
2023 Ram 1500 TRX Engine Specs
As we said, the forthcoming 2023 Ram 1500 TRX will be the last generation powered by the Hellcat engine. This pickup uses a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, the same you can find under the hood of the Dodge Challenger and Charger models. However, beneath the Challenger, this engine develops 707 hp while under the TRX 702 horsepower. Like before, the engine is hooked to a stout 8-speed automatic transmission, and it uses a 4-wheel drive as standard. The current model has been EPA fuel economy rated 10 mpg city/14 mpg highway/12 mpg combined.
Nevertheless, we expect a better economy with the new edition. Ram, previously known as Dodge, makes great muscle cars. This model is a beast and is far surpassing the Ford Raptor. It can top out 118 mph, and it goes from 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. For comparison, the Ford Raptor, which is the main rival to this truck, comes with a high-output twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine producing 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque.
How Much Will the 2023 Ram 1500 TRX Cost?
The second-gen 2023 Ram 1500 TRX will reportedly arrive next year, featuring some improvements over the outgoing model. In general, don’t expect significant upgrades because this model will only receive mild changes here and there.
As for the price, the current Ram 1500 TRX starts at $69,995 plus $1,695 a destination charge. Compared to the Ford Raptor, that’s a significantly higher starting price. Overall, the TRX is a pickup truck that’s significantly more powerful than the Raptor.
